I hate making these with a passion. So many small bits to put together and get all the same and just right. Anywho this one was a commission and they paid so Horray! I didn't mind making it so much.
Used a wide range of techniques on this guy, I crocheted the bear with thread, the unicorn double stranded worsted, the mane and tail were attached and then unraveled for a more whimsical look. The blood is worsted wieght yarn that I painstakingly split down the middle to make thinner then crocheted with. The bear's face is painted and so is the unicorn's eyes, which are felt that are painted then glued on. His hooves are glued as well. His legs and horn have plastic drinking straws in them to add support. And he has steel bb's in his rear to counter weight him. WHEW! That's a lot!
I had the perfect yarn for the request and only had to buy yarn for the horn. (also perfect color in my opinion) The request was as much as possible in black/red to make him look evil. I think I did pretty well. I honestly think I like this one better as I knew what I was doing a bit better. lol Based off this knit version: [link]
