Stone Wall Tutorial

Description

Make sure to zoom or you won't be able to view the tut! All you will see otherwise is the preview image.

First you need to pick a palette that will work for you.
Next draw a basic wall shape with your darkest color and fill with the lightest.
With your second color shade along the side of the wall about 2 pixels thick. Shade on the oposite side of the wall 1 pixel thick. Round out your shading at the bottom of the wall.
Now with the same color draw some bricks in various places on the wall.
Outline just along one edge of the inside of the bricks. And shadow underneath on the same side.
If you're making a small stone wall you can stop there. But since I'm making a larger wall I'm going to keep going. So I added a higlight and a bit more shadows to the stones.
Now I could just leave it there but I'm going to add some cracks to the wall to make it more real. And less boring.
Make sure to shade around the cracks and don't make the cracks to precise.
Copy your wall and make the main color the secondary color.
Then last I added a bit of airbrushing with a highlighting color all over and a bit of darker along the edge with a smaller brush. Lastly I pasted the image on top of it to save my edges and brickwork. You could just add dithering and noise if you have a program that does noise.
